    Servo harness routing

The four #22 conductor shielded wire does have the wires twisted and works just fine for the network. I like this assembly as it is robust. I use the same wire to connect the two OAT sensors that I mount on the bottom of the wing at the first inspection panel (RV wings). Carl

    Servo harness routing

Don’t have a definitive answer for whatever harness you are using, but I do take a step to avoid this potential. I use a single, four #22 conductor shielded wire for the servo network connections. A #20 wire each for power and ground, and a #22 wire for servo disconnect. I use a nine pin D...

Foreflight not updating METARS , Lightning or NOTAMs

What receiver are you using to feed ADS-b information to your ForeFlight device? Carl

    Two sv-com-panels

I suspect it can’t hurt to try. On my switch thought, I’m now thinking this would be a PITA as the SkyView will be giving you error messages about loosing a module when you shifted. Perhaps the best answer is to install two full SkyView radios! Carl

    Two sv-com-panels

The short answer is yes. The longer answer is you will need to add a double position, three throw switch. The switch would transfer pins 4, 5 and 6 between the two control modules. One position is pilot has control, the other is co-pilot has control of the radio. Carl

What is the better IFR navigator to interface with Dynon HDX?

    Updated D10A in the pipeline??

Dynon - please tell me you have an updated D10A coming out. If not I’ll be forced to put a G5 in the new project. Carl

    Dynon Avionics Shop

Do you have both the primary (200) and backup (201) ADHARS modules installed? If so have you used the SkyView display to compare the two? Carl

    Dynon Avionics Shop

Forget the avionics shops. Look for a builder that has done a couple of SkyView installs. Start with your local EAA chapter. Carl

troubleshooting electrical issue - Dynon EMS readings don’t add up

Is the shunt located on the alternator output (reads amps out of the alternator) on the battery output (reads amps out of the battery)? Regardless, the low voltage says you are not charging the battery. I suggest you first verify the voltage reading to be correct. Perhaps more detail on your...

    WiFi Adapter

What would be perfect is being able to display the EFIS screen on the iPad. This is not for the pilot, it is for the GIB to see what I’m seeing. The iPad would have no control on the EFIS. The Foreflight display already does as you discribe. It does not show a display anywhere near the...

    WiFi Adapter

Yep, you need two. I don’t know why. I’ve flown behind SkyView for 12+ years and never used the WiFi capability. I use the GTN-650 to hold the flight plans so transferring the flight plan from the iPad (Foreflight) does not do much for me. Now if Dynon would provide a means to make the iPad...

Planning HDX1100's and Avidyne GPS/NAV/COM - how many GPS antenna and where?

I suggest two GPS antennas. The Avidyne 440 requires its TSO antenna to be legal for IFR work. The Dynon antenna feeds the SkyView moving map and such. What you could do is get the non-WAAS Dynon GPS 250 as option to the GPS 2020. Use a serial output from the Avidyne to feed the SkyView XPDR...

    RV-14A Trim Not Working

You are not the first to miss this. The SkyView install manual is not well done for trim servo wiring. Don’t forget the trim motor(s) breaker on the 12vdc feed to pin 9. Carl

    WiFi capabilities

I’m in the same camp. I use the GTN-650 for all flight plans so being able to upload a ForeFlight flightplan from the iPad to the SkyView does me little good. Does the SkyView WiFi provide any other feature that I might want? What I’d pay for is a link to make the iPad a repeater of the...

    Fuel tank calibration

Or, the sender arms a hung up on something. With a few gallons in each tank rock the wings as best you can. This fixed an new RV-8 so perhaps it will help you. Carl

    Fuel tank calibration

Some thoughts: - Fuel flow senders are very accurate using the SkyView EMS - until they are not. The senders assume the tanks start off with a know amount of fuel (typically you reset after fill up) and they assume all the fuel coming out of the tank goes to the engine. If you have a leaking...

    ADAHRS Installation - Compass Calibration

I just put my trusty Boy Scout compass out on a wing. I buddy pushes the tail around to the four cardinal headings. Then do the air calibration. This process locks in the calibration promptly each time. Carl
