Hum in headset after wrapping panel

Same thought. I've gone over and grounded every case directly to the airframe for just this reason, but no change. It's all just so odd. I've put out a call for a local Dynon/audio guru to come to the house and "just do it." No bites yet.

Hum in headset after wrapping panel

The wrap is only on the face of the panel, the edges where the panel mounts to the airframe is still bare. I might try taping up all the Dynon gear and reinstalling it.

Hum in headset after wrapping panel

The jacks were not removed, they're mounted under the seats with fiber washers as before. The audio wiring harness was not moved or changed, the intercom was merely unplugged from it.

Hum in headset after wrapping panel

The weird part about that is, the panel was bare aluminum before, and it was working perfectly for almost 2 years. Add some insulating vinyl, and suddenly I have more grounding? But I think I'll test the theory by removing the Dynon gear from the panel and doing a "bench test" with everything...

Hum in headset after wrapping panel

I had the whole instrument panel pretty much done, everything worked. Then I wrapped it. I pulled everything out of the front that could be (HDX, OLED COM and Intercom) and pulled everything else from the back (prop controller, breakers) so each item remained pretty much in place, electrically...

    Audio alarm setup

Seems normal to me. When the PSI drops below 2.2, that's the event which fires the alert. If it stays below 2.2, there's no event.

SOLVED: EarthX fault light when connected to Dynon

Just the one on the battery.

SOLVED: EarthX fault light when connected to Dynon

Seeing in the EarthX documentation that it's normal and expected is enough for me, for now. :)

SOLVED: EarthX fault light when connected to Dynon

Found the answer. Should have used better search terms. I'm working on a new install of a Rotax 912iS in a Zenith 750 with a Dynon HDX in the panel. I recently noticed that my EarthX fault LED indicator was on, started troubleshooting, and this is what I've found: - With main relay on, engine...

Photos of Rotax >> Dynon CAN wiring?

The harness supplied with the EMS-221 was mis-wired, the green and blue wires were in the wrong holes. I moved the pins to the correct holes and it now works. See https://www.rotax-owner.com/en/912is-technical-questions/9481-photos-of-rotax-dynon-can-wiring?start=5#p34089 for more info.

Photos of Rotax >> Dynon CAN wiring?

Having trouble getting Rotax 912iS data on the Dynon HDX, they're just not talking. I'd love to see photos of how people have connected the Dynon CAN lines (blue and green) to the Rotax HIC A and B connectors. Any real photos of real working installs?

Is my fuel pressure sensor dead?

During a late-night wiring session, I forgot that the 103757 sensor is a 5v device, not a 12v device. Did I kill it? My fuel pressure widget is always crossed out, and the VALUE column never populates. But the RAW and CAL numbers do change if I blow into the opening. The widget did work when I...

Where to connect Rotax CAN GND?

I’ve confirmed the CANBUS connections from both the Dynon and Rotax 912iS installation manuals, but what about the Rotax CAN GND connections? Do these go to a shared EMS ground pin? Airframe ground? Not connected? HIC A 6 CAN_H1A >> Dynon EMS 36 HIC A 5 CAN_L1A >> Dynon EMS 37 HIC A 4...

COM volume knob has no tension

It's been suggested, but since the knob has no set screw, the pressure of the o-ring pushes the knob to slide on the shaft, reducing the tension back to zero. Many folks have commented that their knobs are the same as mine, so it's "normal."

COM volume knob has no tension

Unboxed my SV-COM again today, preparing to cut my panel for install, and noticed that the volume knob has no tension at all. The HDX knobs are clicky, the COM tune knobs are clicky, the Intercom knobs have a good bit of resistance, which is what I'd expect of any non-clicky knob. The COM...

How to change the ADS-B traffic zoom level

I've gone through the Map Items list but can't find "Traffic" mentioned anywhere. I'd like to have traffic appear only when the map is zoomed down to a certain point (maybe 5 or 8nm). Seeing our local ClassB traffic all stacked up, obscuring my plane, when zoomed out to 20nm is just an absolute...

LED Lighting Under HDX Button Panel

I'd look for "silicone led strip" or "EL wire" and see where that gets you. Such as, https://www.adafruit.com/?q=silicone+led+strip&sort=BestMatch https://www.adafruit.com/?q=el+wire&sort=BestMatch

Is 912iS fuel flow widget still uncorrected?

It was clear. I'm just still confused why the GPH display would not inherit and calculate fuel burn based on this adjusted value.

Is 912iS fuel flow widget still uncorrected?

So it's possible that the always visible bottom band could read a comfortable 3GPH, while the fuel computer, when invoked, could show the true burn of 6GPH? I'm exaggerating, obviously, but the point is that the front-and-center-in-your-face-at-a-glance data could be very wrong. The corrected...
