Hi.
Another problem.
One sky view unit in one of my aircraft sometimes does not want to switch on. I leave it for some time (hours or days) and than works normal.
Today I was flying and it worked normal, landed on near by airport, and when switched on did not recognise ems and adahrs (big red X). Made several restarts, same thing. Disconnected external battery and unit did not want to switch on. After several attempts it did and it worked fine. I could fly home. I have left external battery disconnected.
I have latest 3.1.1 firmware on this unit, but had same problem with 3.0 too.
Checked wiring and everything is fine. Led on the adahrs was on when unit was not recognised so I guess it is not power issue.
What I have noticed is that if I disconnect external battery unit powers up normally. But my guess is that is not the battery problem, but it has to do something with charging. Would be happy to find solution since I have grounded the airplane until this problem is solved. BR, Iztok S.

From my experience 3.1.1. Did not solve the problem. Thinking of downgrading to 2.6. Problem was not present then. I also plan to measure battery voltage and charging current today.
I am getting loud noise in sl40 radio when sky view is charging external battery. Filters are suppose to solve this problem, but would be happy to know the reason of this noise. This 2 problems might be connected. I am an aircraft dealer and I operate several skyview units and all others are fine.

FWIW and others should note - please remove the black USB cable & use the supplied cable in the filter kit, not sure if this will fix your problem but should be done anyway as per Dynon instructions. ;)

Since problem with noise is still present if not connected to battery it is not charging problem. But why power up is problematic with battery attached still remains mystery. BR, I.

I have now installed filters provided by Dynon but I still have noise in the radio present if skyview is connected to external battery. If I switch off battery (physically disconnect connector) noise disappears.
Looks like power up problem is also connected to battery being connected or not.
I do not have same problem with other aircraft operating skyview units.

One of the reasons that we recommend that the battery wires not be extended is that the charging has the potential to make some noise. But at the lengths you have on the included harness, you should be OK. This is very installation dependent, though, so our general recommendation would be to try re-routing the backup battery wires if you can.
