430 GPS signal to XPDR

When I installed my avionics a few months back, I hooked up the 430W's serial line (w/ the 1.21k resistor in-line per instructions) to the SV XPDR. It's also split to go to my D6 backup EFIS for GPS Assist.

In anticipation of the ADS-B capability, I'll remove the GPS-XPDR line (or rather, move it to another serial line on the GPS), but one quick question...

Does it still need the 1.21k ohm resistor in-line? I assume it does...

Yes, the resistor is required.

The transponder connects to the 430W because it is a certified GPS position source and thus is expected to be a legal source of position for ADS-B out in 2020.

Ok so let me see if I got this right. The SKYVIEW RS232 signal to the Xponder contains "non certified" GPS data for the Xponder and it will still work with ADSB. But if I decide to connect my 430W in addition to the SKYVIEW RS232 signal I need a 1.21K resisitor in the line (pin-3) and the Xponder knows which GPS signal to use. Did I get this right?

You actually need to tell SkyView which GPS to use if you have an external one hooked up, but otherwise you have it right.

Is the 1.21K resistor specific to the SV-XPDR? In other words, if the signal from the 430W is going to a GTX327, there is no resistor required, correct?

As per the Garmin install manual, that is correct - resistor is only required between the 430 & SV-Xpndr
