I am in the process of wiring/configuring the following system:
D100
Hs34
D120
496
SL30.

The 496 and SL30 are wired according to current documentation. Do you know if the SL30 will accept freq downloads from the 496in this configuration. There is some concern there will be buss contention and the SL30 won't take the freq download. I am not quite at the point of testing the whole system.

Thanks

We did design the HS34 to pass the frequencies through, but to my knowledge we haven't heard back from anyone that has definitively tried it.

I have a 495 instead of a 496 (identical apart from no automobile database in the 495) and a set up identical to yours.

With everything connected to the HS34, the 495(6) will send frequency changes to the SL30 just as if it is connected directly. With this set-up the SL30 listens to the 495(6), both the SL30 and 495(6) talk to the DYNONs and the HS34 can talk to the SL30 to drive the course indicator.

If you do connect the 495(6) directly to the SL30, you lose the ability to drive the SL30 through the HS34.

Looks like you have a confirmation now!

Great.. glad to hear it Paul. I should be able to test my configuration in the next few days and will report back as well.

Paul, could you please send me your configuration settings for your 495 and D100 serial settings. rose1265@comcast.net

The 495 is set up as follows:-

Serial Data Format
TIS In/NMEA & VHF Out

Baud
9600

For the D100 (I am working from memory as I had taken my instrument off the panel as I am fiberglassing the canopy) , I set the serial port that is connected to the 495 as follows (I am using serial 1):-

INPUT - NMEA
OUTPUT - NONE
BAUD RATE - 9600

Have a look at page 6-18 of the installation manual as it shows how to get to the proper menus and how to the the SL30.
I seem to remember that the SL30 is clever enough to work out what speed the D100 is transmitting at and can adjust its' transmision speeds accordingly.

Hope that helps. If not I hope to have the canopy off fairly soon so can rebuild my panel to check the exact configuration.
