796 audio alerts

I would like to hear the audio alerts from my 796 thru the SV-intercom to my headsets . I'm using the Garmin bare wire harness. Can someone tell me which of these wires connect to the SV-Intercom and to which pin. The SV-intercom is not stereo so do I connect left and right together. I would also not want these alerts to be muted.

Reference the SV-INTERCOM-2S manual.

Pin 17 is AUX NON-MUTING INPUT. Connect the audio output of your 796 to that pin. Connect the ground of the 796 to Pin 1 (with all the other shields). You'll have to consult the 796 manual whether the manufacturer recommends shorting the Left and Right audio outputs together for mono output, or if there is a mode selection from Stereo to Mono, etc. to determine exactly how to connect the stereo output of the 796 to the (mono) AUX NON-MUTING INPUT.

Called Garmin and was told to only connect one or the other, Left or Right, not both connected together. In case someone else needs this information.

Another question, can we connect more than one device to pin 17? I have the 796, and would like to add a Co-Guardian CO detector, tone and Van's Stall warning tone. Any chance we can just connect all three wires to pin 17?

You generally don't want to do that. When more than one of those devices outputs audio at the same time, they'll interfere with each other. This is why you want discrete inputs like our intercom has that are mixed electrically by the intercom. If you don't have a second COM, you can use pin 7 as a second non-muting input. You could also use the muting input on pin 4. Probably for the least-critical audio, perhaps the GPS?
