"Active" TFR

About had a heart attack this morning...while flying around, the screen suddenly went all RED. TFR! And it showed me right in the middle of it...

I *knew* there weren't any TFRs up, BUT we have several coming up at the end of the week...Presidential TFRs, starting Thursday.

Apparently, ADS-B began broadcasting the info while I was flying, and SV dutifully displayed them, but I couldn't find anywhere to get the active times (and they all showed as "Active", even though they weren't yet).

So did SV not parse the active times correctly? Or were they missing. But nothing in the text showed the active dates/times.

I thought SV would show upcoming TFRs as yellow? And does it (or could it) display the active dates/times along with the altitudes?

Same thing just happened to me for the san francisco bay area. Looks like new TFRs showing up in LA as well. I HATE voting season! I was sure 99% nothing active since i was playing with the ipad earlier, but that 1% doubt is a killer!

Of course, the airport fire truck had its lights on when i landed. Uh oh! For me?!?! Oh no!

TFR 5/9307 5/9308
effective starting 6/19 but SV is showing it as active now.

I ended up turning the opacity down under Map Menu -> Map Items -> TFR opacity or something down to 0 or 10%.

Yes, showing active dates at least would be helpful for the future.

Approxiamately 1.5 years ago XM satelite and WingX Pro said all clear, after airborne SkyView ADS B showed the aircraft inthe middle of RED ring and was about VIP. Has not happened since.

So a few things - it's not entirely impossible for TFR's to seemingly "pop up" when information about them is initially received. In other words, all of the data transmitted via ADS-B is rebroadcast periodically, so getting all of the data downloaded isn't instantaneous. So if you take off in an area where you don't have coverage on the ground, or if for some reason you happen to "miss" the TFR update, it can take some amount of time that is more than a couple of minutes to get the full set of TFRs.

As for mis-coloring of TFRs: we don't believe we have a widespread issue with mis-parsing TFR date/times. However, a few things: There was a bug previous to 12.0 that caused the color changeovers to be off by some amount of time ("Fixed: Upcoming TFRs received via ADS-B were incorrectly color-coded by local time instead of UTC time."). Next, getting a diagnostic log if you do experience an anomaly will let us see what you're seeing.

Thanks...I should still be able to get a diagnostic file for you, and will upload it.

Just to follow up a bit on the request, though...it'd be nice to show the active times somewhere, too, along with the altitudes, etc.

Thanks!

In case you need another example of a pre-mature TFR showing up as red on the EFIS, I was flying this past Sunday am when a TFR showed up red on my display. The TRF's are for VIP movement and were scheduled, according to the FAA to be active as follows. If you need a diagnostic file I still should have it for downloading.
