Hello Dynon,

I am stuck in a foreign airfield because today I failed my adahrs and my ems in flight. I have 2 SV D1000 and all worked fine until this day (45 hours). When I landed, I surched in the network statut where was the problem, and under my SV displays  I read the message : Skyvew network connection fault pair data 2 pin 4 and 8. Impossible for me to fly.. I checked all the connections clean them, but I didn't find anything. I suspected the fact my plane sleep for the first time outside. Humidity, perhaps a little rain shower during the night ? But I didn't find any water on the connection...
Please, can you help me ? I would like to come back my home..
In advance thank you
Sylvain from France

Andrieu,

I found an example of this error in the Skyview manual. Here is what it says:

For example, a “SKYVIEW NETWORK CONNECTION FAULT – DATA 2 PAIR (PINS 4 AND 8)” listed below an SV-ADAHRS-200 listing in the network status page means that pins 4 and 8 on a SkyView Network harness or connector that goes to that component has a connectivity problem. This could be a broken wire, swapped wires, bad connection, etc., and should be analyzed with a multimeter or other direct method.

If the fault were instead listed under a SkyView display listing in the network status page, that means that the fault is seen on all devices connected to that display, and is likely due to a connectivity issue at or very near the display in your SkyView Network wiring scheme.

EDIT:
Here is the network connector pinout, since you probably did not carry a manual with you. :)

1 Green SkyView Network Data 1 A
2 Black SkyView Network Ground 1
3 White with Black Stripe SkyView Network Ground 2
4 White with Blue Stripe SkyView Network Data 2 B
5 Orange SkyView EMS Auxiliary Voltage
6 Blue SkyView Network Data 1 B
7 Red SkyView Network Power 1
8 White with Green stripe SkyView Network Data 2 A
9 White with Red stripe SkyView Network Power 2

Thank you Ray for your message.

As said the manual, when the fault is listed under a SV, that means it concern all the devices connected. In my case, the message is under my 2 SV...is that means all my connections are crazy ? I don't understand what happens and how to find the solution..

I precise the failures in flight are not continue but intermittently.

When I bought 2 SV D1000, it was for security, in order to have redondandcy and don't experiment a Total failure . And it is what's happened !

Sure sounds like a wiring/ connector failure on you network cable that goes into the Skyview. Have you tried moving the network connector that plugs into the Skyview to a different DB9 connector on the Skyview? Are you using Dynon network cables or are the custom made? Is it possible to replace the network cable that plugs into the Skyview?

Hello guys,

This morning, after a night in a hangar, no more message error on my SV system. I make a check flight and ..nothing. Today I flew 3 hours and nothing...
I think the water or humidity was the guilty ? What else ?
I'm worried for the futur because my plane will have to sleep outside again with the danger of a rain shower...
Is some RV7 tip up owner there to advise me what I have to do ?
In advance thank you
Sylvain

I have heard tip ups are prone to getting water in at the front of the canopy. There is an aftermarket skirt that I have seen that keeps water off the avionics. Do you think some water dripped on the skyview from the rain? Can you put a waterproof cover pn the plane when left outside in the future?

I already had the skirt but it seems it is not watertight. I also put a waterproof cover, but it seems the water went underneath...
