Are you lining up in all 4 directions, one at a time, and remaining still while it collects data for each direction? What's the EXACT error message you're getting? Also, is it recognizing each direction correctly when you line up before starting data collection for that direction?

Hi Support
Yes I'm lining up all 4 directions and the a/c is perfectly still when I do.
It just says ''Calibration failed'' I never got the''SAVE'' button after I acquired all 4 headings..
It does recognize all 4 directions, at least they are turning ''green '' so I would assume it does...?
They are still working fine ..

Thanks for your help.

Bruno

P.S: Also is it normal for both Joy stick to turn in an ''oval'' kind of way, not perfectly round when used ?? both joystick on my SV-700 are doing this, I don't think this normal... :-?

And you are hitting the acquire button after stabilizing in each of those directions, and then waiting for the timer to expire, correct? If so, we might want to explore getting you a different ADAHRS to try. Give tech support a call at 425-402-0433.

Hi Support
Yes I hit the ''Acquire'' button  after stabilizing  and once the timer is up, the ''Acquired'' heading turns Green and then I go to the next one until all 4 are in the Green but I never get the ''Save', button, it goes directly to ''Calibration failed''

The ADAHRS heading appears to be fine as I checked it on a few different runways just to see if it was close and everytime it was right on...

I did load Ver 3.2 today, will it make a difference?

I will give a call to Support.

    Thanks

Ok I tried again to calibrate the ADHRS( as per the manual ) in my RV-4 today and it failed again... ::)
For the ones of us here flying RV-3/4, where did you guys mount your ADAHRS? Mine is mounted on a shellf just behind the cargo area, is as far away as it can from the steel parts and is about a foot away from my Com antenna ( if it is important ). The shelf is aluminum and I will replace the screw holding the ADAHRS to Brass ( if I can find any ) as the one holding the unit now are stainless I believe (to be confirm )
And yes, the ADAHRS is facing the right way..

Any ideas, it would greatly appreciated

Thanks

Bruno

I'm thinking there's something up with the sensors in your ADAHRS that is preventing it from being able to be calibrated. Give support a call for more help here.

I had trouble calibrating a D10A and found that I was doing so too close to metal hangars. Moved to a place on the airport couple thousand feet away from any buildings and any other metal (including metal reinforced concrete). Problem solved and good SV ADAHRS cal in the same place. Also discovered that stainless washers I was using for shims on the ADAHRS had ferrous content. Changed to aluminum and got even better results. Hope this helps...Jack L

Hi Jack
Thanks for the info. I did try to calibrate my ADAHRS on our grass strip and it didn,t work.I also tried at the airport using the Compass Rose which is a fair distance from any building with negative results.
I will try to replace the stainless screws to either aluminium or brass ( if I can find any ) or even plastic one if that provide a strong enough hold.

Thanks again

You really can't be sure that stainless is non-magnetic. I mounted my ADAHRS with brass machine screws, nuts and washers from Home Depot.

Check the stainless screws with a magnet...

Bruno...let us know how it goes...I'm a long way from calibrating, but am surprised that steel washers or screws would have that much of an effect...

Hello everyone
Well I was finally able to calibrate my Adahrs last week end.
As a precaution, I replaced the stainless screws with brass one and tried again to calibrate the Compass without success so I decidedd to investigate a little more .
I checked with a cheapo compass to see if there was any magnetic anomaliy in the area where the Adahrs was mounted and guess what...The compass went nuts...
I removed the shelf holding the Adahrs in place ( built by a friend ) to discover that he had used steel screws and nuts to hold the shelf together creating the problem.
I rebuit the shelf using non-magnetic hardware and the new Adahrs sent to me by Dynon and everything worked fine  on the next attempt...
Eventough I decided to use the new unit provided by Dynon since it was already mounted, I'm pretty positive that the steel hardware used in the shelf assembly created the problem..
I'll keep you adavise if something else come up..

Thanks for the ideas and info.

Bruno
