I have two questions for Dynon:

1. How does the Adahrs detects a failure and knows to switch to back up Adahrs?
(my Adahrs 200 heading was off for 60 degree, the Skyview doesn't know it's a failure and switch to 201. I have been running the system for 52 hours, this was the 2nd time it happened in flight, very frustrated)

2. The Skyview Map is getting the bering from GPS-250 receiver, what about the airplane icon in the Map? (when the Adahrs 200 fail, the airplane icon was pointed to the sideway instead of GPS track heading)

Your answer will be appreciated.

Currently (as of firmware v3.2.2) when the Skyview display(s) power up, it selects one of the ADAHRS modules as Primary, and the other as Secondary. If there is a SV-ADAHRS-200 and a SV-ADAHRS-201 installed, the -200 is not always chosen as Primary.

When there is a loss of data from the Primary ADAHRS, the SkyView display switches over to using the Secondary ADAHRS. The Secondary now becomes Primary, so if the failed ADAHRS comes alive again, it's not used.

If there is a failure condition on an ADAHRS (such as being 60 degrees off), that ADAHRS must be disconnected, removed, and returned for service. An ADAHRS with any kind of failure should NOT remain connected.

In future versions of firmware, there will be cross-checking of ADAHRS data.

The plane symbol on the map reflects compass heading. In North Up, the plane symbol will rotate with the compass heading. In Track Up, the compass rose and plane will rotate with the compass heading.

I got the RMA # from Mike to return the unit for warrenty repair, but before I got a chance to remove it from the airplane, ADAHRS-200 came back to normal by itself.

So far, it has failed twice, what kind of diagnoses you guys do on the test bench? are you able to duplicate the problem on the bench?

From all the broken Adahrs units you repaired, what was the common failure?

"The plane symbol on the map reflects compass heading. In North Up, the plane symbol will rotate with the compass heading. In Track Up, the compass rose and plane will rotate with the compass heading."

This statement is true when ADAHRS is normal, what if the ADAHRS is off 60 degree, which direction of the airplane symbol pointed to?

My Question for you is, does the airplane symbol gets the information from GPS-250 receiver or from ADAHRS?

While in flight:

If track up, the top of the screen is always the ground track of the aircraft and the ground track line always points straight up. The aircraft icon will point at the magnetic heading of the aircraft. With a properly calibrated compass, this will show you the wind angle. If your compass is off 60 degrees, it will show you off 60 degrees all the time.

In North up, the plane continues to show magnetic heading, and the while ground track line shows ground track.

So basically, the aircraft symbol always gets it's info from the ADAHRS, and the white ground track line from the GPS.

When you're on the ground, the ground track line switches to the magnetic compass since GPS doesn't work for track at low speeds. You can tell this because the heading at the top of the page has a white box when it's magnetic and magenta when it's GPS.

RV12 ADAHRS failure

I purchase a  10'Skyview package with my Van's RV12 kit, build it in Lima, Peru South America.   After aprox 10 hours of flight  got a ADAHRS Failure while in flight. I turned off and on the skyview and got attitude readings for about 10 seconds and failure message again. After checking all electric connections  and forcing a system re-load I can not get the ADAHRS to work  again.  The red light is blinking in very long intervals.  Can someone help me please???

What is the exact failure message you were seeing? What version of SkyView software are you running? When you perform a SkyView network detection, does it see the ADAHRS?
