I have been searching without success to see if anyone has had issues with ADAHRS vibration in an RV and what steps they took to get rid of it. I find that when I land or takeoff from a grass strip I get an ADAHRS vibration error message. The unit is mounted on two aluminium cross struts behind the baggage compartment and apart from the problem I am having with vibration seems to work well. I had wondered about trying to mount it on 4 rubber tap washers and nylon nuts and bolts as vibration dampers but before I do thought I would see if it’s been tried before by anyone.
thanks Steve

You might like to try a piece of car sound adhesive damping blanket on the underside of the mount if possible before you go to hardware modifications. In my aircraft (not an RV) I had to stiffen the mount area to get rid of this type of problem.

Steve - the ADAHRS message is telling you something- the mount is not rigid enough ;) or.... you could buy the $20 fabricated mount ( #149) from Vans.

Thanks for the replies. I think the first stage would be to stiffen the cross struts. As I recall they are 20mmx20mmx1mm angles so I can thicken them up and perhaps go for something a bit wider. I do suspect a bit of damping could help and I do have some sound insulation rubber so may try placing the unit on that. Someone has also suggested using zip ties to secure it rather than screws. I would like to use the Vans mount but not sure if it would fit my RV6 and the other issue is the wiring extension and new pitot and static lines. Whatever I have a few ideas to try.

Stevec - you are correct, the # 149 mount will not fit the 6 as they are for the 7/9's. Dampening is not ideal, just beef up the mount.
