I recently loaded Version 4 software and soon after, on the ground, got the ADAHRS crosscheck warning for a rate indicator error, or something like that (it was not a turn coordinator error). I ignored it, flew a few times and never had an issue, but when flying a few days ago it popped up again. I wasn't able to spend time troubleshooting, but it appeared that the primary ADAHRS unit was ok as the bank indicator on the secondary unit was not making sense. I disabled the secondary.
I assume I need to remove the secondary unit and send it in for repair.
My question is, until I remove the secondary unit, if a function on the primary unit goes bad, can the secondary unit be used for that function? For example, if the altimeter for the primary unit fails, will the altimeter function on the secondary take over? And when I disabled the secondary unit, did I turn the whole unit off, or just that failed module?
I have to assume the secondary unit has always been bad as the initial error indication came so quickly. I used the Dynon-supplied cables, so is it reasonable to assume the problem is not a wiring error and is, indeed, a problem with the unit?
I am trying to complete my 40 hour test flight period. I am grateful for the crosschecking software as I never had any idea that there was a problem.
