I am adding a second Dynon SV-1000 to an existing SV-1000 plus AME 221 system in a flying aircraft.

What will happen when I flip the switch on with respect to existing SV-1000 and the new one? With they fight over who will be the master?

What will happen to my existing data such as logged flights and Hobbs and setup parameters?

Any suggestions would be appreciated!!!

1. First thing is to add a Ethernet cable connected to both screens as the EMS & some other data will seemlessly transfer.
2. # 2 D1000 - make sure you configure the serial ports same as #1 & the software vers is the same plus any mapping/databases.
3. When both are 'setup' (no need to do anything on the EMS side) do a system configuration. Then most, if not all, data/settings will be the same for both screens.

I think that's it.

THANKS MTH,

>First thing is to add a Ethernet cable connected to both screens as the EMS & some other data will seamlessly transfer.

I have the cable...when I turn it on hopefully the magic will happen.

># 2 D1000 - make sure you configure the serial ports same as #1 & the software vers is the same plus any mapping/databases.

I will need to study/learn how to setup the serial ports are the same. I imagined that since everything is daisy chained then the ports would be automatically setup.

This project has taken months so I have new USB chips with new software mapping and database...need to learn how to do this as well.

This is a bit overwhelming...lots of reading.

I moved a bunch of the sensors to different pins on the EMS so this will be interesting...

A second screen is easy.

Put it in the plane. Hook up the SkyView Network cable. DO NOT set the N number in the new screen. Leave it as DYNON. This allows it to be integrated into an already-configured system.

On the OLD screen, go in and do a network config. Now your second screen will have all the settings from the first (including the serial ports). There are a couple of settings under Local Display Setup that are unique to each display, like what pages the display shows at startup, so take a look in there too.

See page 21-5 of the install manual for more detailed, step by step instructions.

Ethernet is only needed to sync obstacle and aviation databases. Everything else goes over SkyView Network.

Once both displays are in sync and working as a system, there's no real user-facing concept of a "master". Everything is kept in sync automatically and transparently between both displays. You can turn them on in any order, turn either off at any time, and the system just keeps working seamlessly. (Behind the scenes, one of the screens is technically running the show, and which display that is can change depending on various things. But from a user/pilot perspective, there's no reason to know which one it is at any moment. There's no difference of behavior.)
