Probably a basic question but I am new to Dynon, can't find the answers and trying to make some pre purchase decisions for a daytime VFR aircraft:-
If I fit 2 Skyview display units will I need two ADARHS 200 modules and two SVEMS 220 modules plus two GPS 250's
or can I manage with one of each and take spur feeds as needed off single modules?
Thanks,
Alan

SkyView's architecture is extremely flexible, and almost everything can either be shared or duplicated to fit your mission and comfort level.  There are arguments in both directions, but it sounds to me like you'd be just fine with a single SV-ADAHRS-200, SV-GPS-250, and SV-EMS-220.

That said, one of the biggest benefits to working with Dynon is the excellent documentation--almost every question you'll ever come up with is answered in the SV Installation Manual (current version on this page).  If you'd like to learn more about system planning and architecture, check out Section 2. System Planning.

Good luck!

A few thoughts:

Unless you have two engines, you can only use one SV-EMS-220. There isn't a redundancy capability there, for a variety of reasons, including some that are deeply technical, but the chief one is that should happen to your engine gauges, it's an issue, but not an emergency.

For a sport VFR aircraft, Louis's suggestion of a single GPS and ADAHRS is pretty typical. Some people opt to add the second ADAHRS for flight instrument redundancy - we "encourage" the safety benefit of the second ADAHRS by pricing it a bit less than the first.

If you haven't already run into it, our order form also has some discussion on equipping your aircraft with our equipment.

In any aircraft I would consider analog gauges as the primary redundancy measure. Only if there is no way to have at least a compass, altimeter and asi would I opt for a second ahrs. After all, the second ahrs only protects you from an ahrs failure whereas analog gauges protect you against all possible electrical, efis or ahrs malfunctions.

You need to look hard at what kind of added security level a second ahrs really provides. In my opinion not much.

Thanks for the info everyone.
Seems like I will be fine with just one of each module.
For redundancy I will have analogue Altimeter, ASI and compass anyway which we have to have here in the UK.

Thanks again,
Alan

Louis' answer was great - Thanks! Adding to that... Modules like the SV-ADAHRS-200, SV-EMS-220 are on a network that is shared between multiple displays. Simpler devices that communicate via serial port - SV-GPS-250, SV-XPNDR-261/262, SV-ADSB-470 are connected to both displays in parallel.
