Hello Dynon.

So you don't treat the ARINC label 162 as discusse in my previous post. Fair.

But I still would like to get the ADF bearing on the HSI. So I was thinking of another way (D10A with HS34):
Make a small interface between the the SIN/COS ADF out of a King KR87 to an RS232 outputting the sole SL30 output sentence 5 times a sec: RADIAL from Standby VOR, $PMRRV24V<dddf><chksm><CR><LF>
with dddf, the bearing in degrees and f, 1/10 of degree. And configure the HS34 RS232 INPUT as SL30. My ADB bearing will be represented by my SBY bearing on the HSI. I don't have a SL30 in my system.

Let me know if the HS34 and the HSI would suport that and if I need, potentially, to output another SL30 sentence. We are in the experimental world :)

Thanks, Jacques

Off the top of my head, I think you'll need to fake the full SL30 stream for the system to recognize it as an HSI source and display ANY bearing pointer.

Jaques,
Interfacing the ADB with the SL30 is possible by making a small interface between them. You read serial data from both devices an substitute the VOR heading data with ADF information when selected, or allow it pass though. It should  be relatively simple to do using a Microchip (PIC) with three serial ports. You need the details of the serial data from the devices to put  it all together so it can be coded.
NDB's might be antiquated, but in most areas in Africa and Australia its the only navigation aid if GPS fails. :)
