Dear Dynon:
The new install manual states that the ads-b antenna should be 2 feet from the transponder antenna. Are there any restrictions on how close the comm antenna can be to the ads-b antenna?
Thanks,
Bruce

I'm very constrained for antenna locations.. I understand the "2 foot" recommendation but can only get my ADS-B antenna 22" from my xpdr antenna. Does the risk of interference/etc rise sharply at this reduced distance, or might I be OK? Other install options lead to big headaches and ugliness.
Thanks

The interference risk does rise, which could cause small bits of data from the ADS-B system to get missed, but, that's not the major concern. As you get closer to the transponder antenna, there's a chance of component damage to the ADS-B receiver because of the power that the transponder broadcasts with. So, unfortunately, we can't recommend distances closer than 2 feet for the ADS-B and transponder antenna separation.
