Can DYNON say whether it's possible wx will be introduced this year?

Before I chose I'd rather wait if it's possible. No promise necessary.

I noticed that Navworx no longer shows Skyview as a display for their ADS-B. http://www.navworx.com/PDFs/CompatibleDisplays.pdf
I had planned on going this route how will one be able to display ADS-B weather and traffic?

Complicated story, but here goes:

Today, anything that outputs the Garmin TIS format traffic can send traffic to SkyView. This includes the GTX330 transponder, the Zaon XRX, some of the Garrecht Flarm boxes (for EU folks), and should include the NavWorx ADS-B receiver as far as we know. Additionally, our own transponder receives TIS traffic natively as well. So, unless NavWorx has changed something about how their products work, you should be able to get traffic out of their boxes via TIS format.

We don't have any weather capability today, but that's one of our highest priorities. We're still working on our weather plans and don't have something to announce at this time.

Frankly, though, at this moment, it's hard for us to say "go for it" on a particular ADS-B device. We're just not quite there yet. I know it's a little frustrating, but we're trying to work out a path that delivers the value and functionality that you've come to expect from us.

What we (your customers) need to know is what are we going to do for weather this summer. There is now an ADS-B solution for the IPAD- should we fork up the $1000? Is Skyview weather sufficiently close enough that we should wait?

Is the Skyview solution sufficiently close that waiting makes sense? We really need some kind of timeline.

We really can't provide a timeline or any more forward-looking predictions just yet. We've announced "timelines" one too many times that we honestly thought were accurate predictions, and we've been wrong because we hadn't gotten past the really hard technical risks, or major decisions, or partnerships, etc. We now wait until we're beyond guessing and have real schedules in place that we believe in.

When we get there an have that schedule nailed down, we'll start talking specifics and timing. There isn't a standard time frame for that by the way. It varies by project/product - this one included. So the fact that we can't say that we know that we'll have something this summer doesn't mean we won't, and it doesn't mean we will. It simply means we're not close enough yet to know.

I know it's frustrating, and we're sorry we don't have more to share yet. There are just too many things in play right now.

My 2 cents---I went for the Skyradar box coupled with WingX over a year ago and am happy with that decision. Sold my 496 to pay for Skyradar and had money left over. I've saved enough NOT having XM weather in that time which would pay for the unit by itself.
Go for either Stratus or Skyradar, based on your Ipad App perference, both are now $799. If Dynon announces weather a few months down the road simply sell the box. The XM savings vs free ADSB will probably make up your loss.

Thanks for the heads up on the Sky Radar box price being reduced. I love my WingX/IPad and am about to get the Skyradar I think. How well is it working out for you?

Consider that XM has coverage over ALL the U.S. and that ADS-B is limited, particularly in the West. ADS-B may be free but the lack of coverage is a killer for me.

VERY well. Well worth the money. Coverage is increasing on a daily basis and supposedly full coverage next year.
