ADSB antenna question

I have a SV-ADSB-470 module for ADSB-IN and I'm loving it.  I mounted my antenna, a Delta Pop 978Mhz unit under the fuselage beneath the co-pilot seat of my Glasair Sportsman.  When I go for full ADSB 2020 compliance, I'll be getting one of the Dynon "261" transponders, and using my Garmin (oops, I said the G word) 430W as the GPS source.

My question is do I use the same Delta Pop antenna for full ADSB?  Or do I need a second antenna just for the OUT portion?

Thanks!

PS - Love the wifi and Foreflight!!

The SV-ADSB-470 requires an antenna while the SV-Xponder-261 requires a separate antenna. You can't use one antenna for both modules. The antennas should be at least 24" from each other. If you have a transponder currently installed then you can use it's antenna for the SV-Xponder-261.

I have a Bob Archer transponder antenna mounted half-way to the tail, inside the fuselage. It is connected to a GTX327, which I thought I would still need. Would the Dynon transponder take the place of the 327 entirely (Mode C)?

Thanks

Beerus, I'm building a composite airplane also.  Did you use a ground plane on your Delta Pop ADSB In antenna?  If so what material and how big.  Thanks, Gerry

Yes, I used a roughly 6" square piece of 0.020" aluminum that is secured on the inside of the fuselage floor and makes good electrical contact with the antenna mounting studs. Seems to work very well (once I'm off the ground, as there is no ADSB ground station at my airport).

Thanks for the quick reply

If the current antenna hasn't given you any problems then yes it will. I replaced a KT76 with the SV-Xponder-261 and it works perfectly.

Good to know.  Guess I could see what a lightly used GTX327 goes for on the open market...
