ADSB for me has been very spotty as well. this is a recent install with Dynon/Avidyne components. if I have TIS off I will see ADSB OK NO RADAR and occasional traffic targets on the ground. I have not seen any traffic while airborne if TIS is on I don’t see TIS OK until about 400’AGL. My ipad is connected to my Stratus as is my IFD540. they both see traffic no issues. I am hopeful to see traffic in the PFD via synthetic vision but that has not happened yet.

the ADSB settings are also confusing in regards to the distances for alt and range. it reads as though those ranges are where traffic will not be reported. so if I set them both to 0 I should be seeing all traffic. this does not seem to be the case. currently on the ground I will see targets drop off at around 1000 feet of separation horizontally and 500’ vertically.

what distances are recommended for these ranges? I would like to see all activity within 10 miles or so on the PFD and unlimited on the map view.

I also have not seen any weather on the WX tabs since install. so that has been really frustrating as well. not even sure where to start on debugging that.

I'd think that there's a problem with the area/altitude's you're flying at re: the ADS-B coverage displayed on the FAA's handy KML file, except the Stratus doesn't seem to be having trouble?
If you're ever near KPSC, let me know and we'll look at your config and run the vector analyzer on your ADS-B antenna/coax and at least rule out poor antenna performance. The system I just installed was showing intruders on the synthetic vision even before the aircraft had picked up a proper position.
Re: ranges - If you let it show you traffic all the way up into RVSM space, you'll go insane with alerts. There's WAY more commercial traffic than you want to have to pay attention to. Set the range to a bubble that gives you a reasonable amount of time to react without overloading you with info you don't need.
