I know there are various human factors texts around that talk to the design of machine interfaces, but I can’t find what i’m looking for - a guide to developing a screen layout for an EMS Engine screen.
I was taught as a young engineer that various types of gauges and presentations of data have different levels of comprehension. Also, ideally, gauges should be grouped so that in “normal” operation, needles and bars line up. Then there is the question of scan patterns....
If anyone can point me to a good text on the best way to layout a screen I would appreciate it.
I also have a product support suggestion for dynon: a java based PC simulator/designer for screen layouts, so that you can develop something on a PC then generate the settings file for upload to SV.
