Air Temperature Sensor

I am considering adding a generic Air Temp sensor inside the engine compartment on my Experimental Aircraft. I have a two wire sensor (like you would use on a Grill) that I would like to connect to my Dynon HDX system. Any recommendations on which leads to connect it? There is currently no other air temp sensors that I could get the data from.

I don't know if the grill sensor would work, but the below if from the manual.
It can't hurt to hook it up to the general purpose temp sensor pins and try different configurations.

If it's a thermocouple, it should work. Thermistor might as well. Either way, you'll have to experiment to get the readings you want.

Note that thermocouples generate a very small voltage (mVolts) and thermistors are a variable resistance, so these two need very different circuits.

Then it should be fine with a general purpuse EMS input channel. I have dome similar with a PTC, the hard part might be just finding correct calibration coefficients, but if the documentation of the thermistor is available then you can make your own (it would certainly be easier if thermistor matches a standard supported thermistor, but there are different thermistors with different ranges

Thanks for the input. I did install it today using one of the GP Pins and set it to the Dynon OAT sensor as a test and the sensor is giving me temps. I do have the range of temps that the sensor supports and will attempt to make a custom definition for it. The sensors temp values are a small bit lower and higher than the OAT but the temp was registering very close to OAT readings.
