Alert Volume

I'm having trouble getting a satisfactory volume level on my alerts. I have the Volume set at 100% in the skyview system setup. I have an RV-12 and there is an external trim pot on the signal, which does effect the volume, but it only takes it from inaudible, to barely. Also, as I increase the volume, the voice become very distorted. I really want this feature to work. It would really add a lot of utility to my AOA. Right now the beeps are inaudible with the engine running. Any help will be greatly appreciated.....Tom

I have solved my alert volume problem, which was caused by the installer (me).
After finishing the installation of the entire avionics kit, I noticed a fair amount of noise coming into the headset. In posting a query on Vans it was suggested that I disconnect the music input at the intercom, which I did. It eliminated the noise, but also killed the Skyview alerts, as that was the path to my headset from the Skyview. The wires are now re-connected and my alerts work perfectly.............Tom
