Ammeter shunt config with VPX

I have a Skyview system with the EMS and VPX. I have installed the shunt in position B as per the install manual. I am just wondering is there somewhere in a configuration menu, setting or EMS file that I need to tell the system which of the three possible options (A, B or C) that I have used? Or is the system smart enough to figure it out?
Cheers

It will just display the Dynon amps IF you have the correct widget set up, all YOU have to do is remember what the Dynon shunt is measuring ;)

If you put the shunt between the battery and the rest of the system you will see flow in and out of the battery - Cessna style.

If it's between the alternator and the rest of the system you will see the flow from the alternator - always positive. This gives you the most information when you have VP-X.

If the battery is connected to the alternator before the shunt you will only see the system draw - never the battery draw.

Here is an interesting screen shot. Alternator and battery both supplying power ??? How does that happen :-?

Mmarien,
That's exactly what happens whenever you are drawing more than your alternator can put out, so that's not odd at all. In the case of the image, the issue is that the battery is at 14.5V, and the alternator is likely at 14.4V, so the system will source some if it's current from the battery.

Nigel,
You do need to tell us where the shunt is located in a VP-X install. Instructions are on page 13-4 of the install manual.

I guess that makes sense. The screen capture is a rare case as all the other screen captures of the VP-X show the flow to the battery. Looks like nothing gets by you guys. ;)

Ok, so the problem I am having is that I have a configuration file which has the ammeter shunt sensor defined and I've selected valid = 1 and I have it mapped to the correct pins. The file loads fine but when I am in the EMS setup menu and try to map a sensor to the pins it lets me select Amps but when I try to save it I get an error. When I use the screen layout configurator I can add the widget to the screen but it has CFG?. I started with an EMS file that is a few years old so I am wondering if this has anything to do with it. I found the A,B,C issue in the VPX configuration menu so that problem is fixed.

If you're changing the definition files by hand, it may be possible that some settings are disagreeing in a way that's prohibiting correct configuration of the ammeter. One thing you might try, assuming that you're using one of our more recent versions of software, is to load the latest engine sensor definition file from here to each display in the system. After that, restart the entire system. Then go back into EMS setup and try to map the amps shunt as you had been. If that does not change anything, what is the exact error you're seeing?

Ok there is a good chance that I have corrupted the sensor definition file so I have downloaded the latest one and will try to load it and see what happens.
