The SV-ADSB-472 receiver installed with my SkyView HDX is working great with the included monopole rod antenna. However it seems really fragile and susceptible to breakage. Would another transponder antenna like the Comant CI-105-6 work as an acceptable substitute to the monopole antenna for ADSB-IN?

OK, Thanks. Didn't see this:
Antennas available include (but are not limited to):
...
Rami AV-74 (TSO’d)
The Spruce product page for the AV-74 says: "This antenna is a direct replacement for the CI-105".
Seems like a match but I would be happy to hear any real-world PIREPs on the matter.

Believe ! You’re overthinking it😄.
The ‘rod’ type is made of a brittle alloy & they typically break (the broken shaft will spin) just inside the mount which is usually caused by a bump when washing or polishing the plane. I had stopped using them on installs around 20 years ago. The Comant version is too expensive IMO - YMMV 😉

I see a lot of $40 TED antennas out there in the sub-250kt GA fleet posing as the $140 CL101. They seem to do ok. Maybe get flying with the one Van's sells. Then if it does break down the road, replace it with the fancy 300kt blade antenna. Just my 2 cents.

I have three DM N150-2-2 blade antennas you can use. Two came off Citation jets and one off a King Air 200. I can sell them for $50 each plus shipping.
