AOA calibration with various flap settings

Since critical AOA varies with flap position, and you already have the means to read flap position, it would be helpful to allow for several different critical AOAs in the calibration procedure, corresponding to different flap positions.  This is a feature in several of the competing AOA systems.

This was answered on another thread - they don't support it just yet.

The F-4 Phantom had an AOA system which did not adjust for flap position (or slats, either, which also affected handling). Approach speed was around 17 units; max turn 25 unit with slats and 19 units without if my failing memory serves me correctly.

Perhaps Dynon would provide us an alternate display - a digital (numeric) AOA readout without the color coding, and just let us set limits for our own airplane?

That was my thread, but I am just puting it in the suggestion box for the record and interested to see if anyone else concurs.

Displaying units as you suggest and allowing the setting of other graphical limits would also be welcome enhancements that would make this system more competitive with the other AOA products out there.

Ah my bad!

Yes, I second the suggestion to allow display of AOA in "units" (or maybe degrees?). Couple that with the ability to make the limits dependent on flap position (if a sensor is installed and calibrated) and gear (down, "not down"). That would allow you to fly "target AoA" like the big boys.

:D
