ARINC OBS/CRS input to GNS480

I have 2 issues with using my GNS480 with Skyview - trying to understand if it's an expected limitation or misunderstanding on my part. The 480 is connected via the ARINC interface only; I love the integration provided with the 10.1 software update.
1) when I try to use the 480 OBS mode, I get a popup "No valid OBS input detected". Shouldn't the SV CRS knob provide this over ARINC?
2) when I tune the 480 to a VOR and switch the CDI to VOR, the Skyview HSI shows the full display (course, To/Fr arrow, CDI) in green, but the 480's CDI window always displays FLAGGED. CRS knob works as expected on HSI. Could the FLAGGED condition be somehow related to (1)? What would the SV HSI display if it really was flagged?

When I tune and fly an ILS, everything works as expected, including the CDI on the 480, so I know the CRS input is getting to the 480 in this case. I also have an SL30 as my second navcom and have no problems with its SV nav integration over serial.

It looks like the ARINC course label our ARINC module sends out (100G for Selected Course) isn't the one that the 480 expects to receive. It looks to be expecting the non-gama (plain 100 label). Weirdly, it looks like it can send 100G to other devices, but not receive it. So unfortunately, it looks like this is the behavior we'd expect.

So we looked at this a bit closer, and we see no reason the 480 shouldn't take 100G. The 100/100G labels can't be told apart, so the 480 should work.

What you describe sounds a lot like a mis-configuration of the 480, or just a flat out broken wire so that no data is getting to the 480 at all. Did this work in previous software versions or times and stop, or has it never worked?

Thanks for looking into this.
I only just installed the 480 in this plane around time the SV 10 software came out. I don't think it's a broken wire, as baro setting is correctly received by 480(verified on 480 sys cnfg page). I have the 480 Arinc input set to EFIS, output1 set to gama429, output2 set to Vor/ILS.

I asked the same question on the gns480-users mailing list, and several people reported the Aspen PFD has the exact same issue with the 480. One said the 480 requires a traditional resolver-type CDI simultaneously wired to it to validate the OBS signal and unflag the 480 VOR internal CDI.

As long as I can trust what the Dynon HSI CDI is showing, I can work around no GPS OBS mode on the 480, and use the Dynon HSI over the 480s internal Nav/HSI page. When the ILS or VOR is in a true flagged condition, what does the Dynon HSI show? Does the green line disappear completely? Or just the middle CDI? It doesn't seem to be mentioned in the pilot guide.

What I see when the 480 is tuned to a known good VOR signal is that the Dynon HSI display and CRS knob work as expected, but the 480 CDI window says flagged. So I'm wondering if/how VOR flag state is communicated over Arinc.
