Autopilot calibration

I have tried to do the autopilot cal' per the manual 3 times. The system says servos not found. I checked the Configuration SV32 roll & pitch servos found in the network. Checked the power /grounding and CWS button wiring ( including the 500K Ohm resistor) - All Ok The airspeeds are entered on the PFD settings and the system knows it has an ADAHRS ( not yet calibrated though). Can anyone suggest what I am missing here

Have you done zero airspeed calibration yet? You don’t need magnetometer calibration but zero airspeed cal is something that Dynon recommended to do.

I had the same situation, and it turned out that one of my servos (pitch) was bad. The way you could check it is to disconnect one of the servos, pretend that it’s actually a yaw servo (it will ask if it’s yaw damper only if you have just one servo) and try to calibrate it. When it says yaw left, apply full left aileron or full pitch down, and opposite for right yaw.

If it’s successful, repeat with the other servo. If not, you can still repeat with the other servo to make sure it’s not both servos that are bad.

Thanks for the reply. Answer is no I haven't. I have not come across this in the manual. However I read up on the problem & performed a Network status check that showed both servos were there. I then repeated the servo calibration per page 10-14 of the system installation guide. this time it has worked - the roll& pitch servos were found and responded. The test wizard led me to do a full & free movement input on the stick & there was a very noisy ratcheting/thumping from the roll servo. This lasted a few seconds then stopped (happily). I don't know what this was but I stopped at this point & shut the system down. I will have a look for the zero airspeed cal tonight.

It will do some rumble-bump-thump during the calibration routine - the system is running the servo up against the hard stops to see where they are and check the slip-clutch for proper operation. Just go with it and let it run.

Yeah, it sounds very scary, but it won’t hurt the servos...
