How about offering the autopilot, baro/alt/hdg, intercom and radio external control heads in a round 3 1/8" format not just in the current rectangle format. This way there is the option of being installed in an existing panel hole without additional cutting.

That's a coincidence, I'd asked a similar question directly to Dynon 2 days ago but looking at the rectangular 'radio stack' solution. With the amount of 'Glass' now being used, & therefore taking up a lot of panel space, sometimes there is little room left for a 3 1/8" unit - just my opinion of course :).

True for a new panel. But if you are converting an existing panel to glass you will probably have several empty round holes available that held, now unneeded, instruments. Besides, there are LOTS of existing aircraft wanting a glass upgrade without having to fabricating a complete new panel.

My 2 cents.
