Autopilot up and down

I was flying today with the autopilot in Trk mode and it was chasing the altitude. Up and down. The air was not rough and I did not see a reason, finally turned it off.
Anyone have an idea as to why?

Track mode is a horizontal (roll) mode. Are you sure you had the altitude hold engaged?

Also, is this a new problem, or is this the first time you have used the autopilot? Have you tuned it at all? What kind of plane? SkyView or D100?

I have a skyview and the tweaked the autopilot today and it worked fine.
