I tried to upload the updated Aviation data base today and it keeps hanging up at the "Extracting Files" page. (In excess of 10 minutes with no response). The only change I have made to the system is adding the wifi dongle to the Skyview. At Sun n Fun I was told you no longer need to removal all USB devices when updating, but that is the only apparent change. I re-loaded the data twice to confirm it was OK. Any ideas?

Suggest you try a different USB flash drive, or reformat your current USB flash drive (FAT32 format).

Thank you, I will do that. Is it correct that I can now leave the wifi dongle connected while doing a data update? That saves a panel opening!

I never remove the Wi Fi dongle and the upgrades work fine.

Apologies for this confusion.

It was always the case that the SkyView Wi-Fi adapter (or the SkyView Video Input Adapter) could remain connected (plugged in) simultaneously with the USB flash drive for firmware updates, database updates, or charts access.

However, the SkyView display can only recognize the first USB flash drive plugged in. If a USB flash drive is plugged in, any subsequent USB flash drives that are plugged in will be ignored.

So if you have a USB flash drive plugged in for charts, that will need to be temporarily unplugged to before you can plug in another USB flash drive to load databases or firmware updates.

SkyView does have two USB ports on the rear of the display where the SkyView Wi-Fi Adapter and the SkyView Video Input Adapter can be plugged in semi-permanently, leaving the USB cable available for USB flash drives.

Thank you, I will do that. Is it correct that I can now leave the wifi dongle connected while doing a data update?  That saves a panel opening!

Again thank you for this important clarification as there is ambiguity within the instructional literature. This was the discussion that I had at SnF with your team and it was agreed the next 'printing' needs further clarification that the Wifi can indeed remain for ALL updates, data and firmware.
