Backup Battery Discharged?

My #1 SkyView Classic display intermittently shows the battery backup is discharged and needs charging. My #2 SkyView display works just fine. I swapped the batteries and the #1 display still intermittently gives me backup battery needs charging while the #2 display works normal. The battery is not the problem. Has anybody else run into this issue?

You could check in the setup menu the battery status display and verify what the reported voltage is on the backup battery and whether the Dynon reports charging the backup battery during flight (or on the ground when you aircraft battery is being charged, so at a high enough voltage), to allow the Dynon to charge the backup battery

As I posted, it only happens with one display the other display works fine. It doesn't matter which battery is connected to which display. After 10yrs and over 800hrs working perfectly it just started happening intermittently to only one of my 2 displays. That is why I was wondering if anybody else has had this problem.

There are cases where the backup batteries age and eventually don't keep enough charge anymore. But that woudln't explain why this is only happening to the primary display battery even when swapping the batteries. During the build of my second plane the Dynon's sat unused for a very long time and eventually the backup battery wouldn't keep enough charge anymore to pass the backup battery test

Just to completely rule out that possibility I purchased a new battery directly from DYNON and it continues to happen. The funny part is even though it says the battery needs charging, it passes the 45min battery test. I have a call in to DYNON support to see what they thing.

I swapped batteries so if there is a problem it would have to be in the SkyView plug which has worked perfect since 2012. I contacted DYNON support and am sending them some files they asked for. I will post what we find.

You should touch base with our support staff. But one thing that might give you some clues is the battery status page in setup menu. What does SkyView THINK the battery voltages are for each battery/display?

I'm having a very similar problem to what GalinHdz is reporting. System worked great till a couple of years ago, now one of my displays reports backup battery won't pass the test. Purchased a new battery, but that did not resolve the issue. I have a classic Skyview 10 from the early days, purchased late 2010 or early 2011. I seem to remember there were issues with some of the early PCBs, but at the the time my system worked fine.

After consulting with DYNON, I swapped the displays. When I did the swap I noticed that the DB-37 plug on the #1 display didn't appear to be properly seated. I had removed the display for repairs and apparently when I re-installed it, the main plug on the back was not making good contact.

After 3hrs of flying, neither display shows the battery backup is discharged and needs charging.
