The battery pack has a connector that mates to the connector in the unit. It's keyed so it only fits one way. It has both the power and ground wires. Also, only Dynon battery packs should be used in Dynon products.

mine just had the power wire and no connector
I hooked it up just by grounding it to the airframe , it worked but i imagine is should be hooked in to one of the dynon grounds
do you know where i cna get the female plug end on the battery pack to hook it up correcttly?
the dynon came with the pre wire instrument that zenith sells for the 750 so however pre wired ir must have removed the plug

Are you trying to use an external, non-Dynon battery?

In this case we're not much help. You hook (+) to pin 15 and (-) to the common ground in the airplane. If you're using this we will NOT charge this battery, so you need your own battery charging solution.

If you are trying to use the Dynon battery, it goes INSIDE the unit. If you think you have one of these with no connector on it, please send us a picture so we can see what you're talking about.

The Dynon one that looks like an RC car battery is the one that goes inside. There is a door on the side of the D180 with two screws that you take off to put it inside. However, if there is no connector on the end of it, then the battery is damaged.

This is what it should look like:
http://dynonavionics.com/docs/D180_Feature_Battery.html

Also, page 9-36 of the current install manual tells you how to install the battery.

D100 - My internal battery[0110] suddenly took a nasty dive while I was attempting to chrage up the aircraft battery, so I (eventually) withdrew it. It now registers below 12 Vdc. May I recharge it out side the d100, and if so, what percautuions must I take? Please

You cannot charge it outside of the D100.

What do you mean "it took a nasty dive" and you "withdrew" it?

Thanks for the rapid reply.
I am finishing up installing the Efis D100 and I had found the battery voltage below14 Vdc so rigged a short across the ON/OFF switch so that aircraft power would reach the D100 while the switch was of the aircraft. The voltage began to riese ands I was called away for 15 minutes. When I came back the voltage was 13.2 and dropping. I unplugged the short.
I could not find the size of the Allen wrench and had to wait some several hours to acquire the Allen wrench. When I managed to extract the battery pack, I put a voltmeter across the mini- connector and found zero volts (?). So now I have the EFIS out, the battery out and little time to correct any fault. Please what's my next move? Can the battery pack recover (it has never been in use -still building).

The bottom line is that if the unit is getting power above 10V (as shown on the M line of the voltmeter that you can pull up via the INFO>VMETER info item, and it's on, then the internal battery should charge.

It sounds like your unit was perhaps running of its own internal battery, but, if that had happened after it was charging successfully, it would have turned itself off after 60 seconds as it didn't receive power from master. Now if you turned on the unit via button 1, and then applied the master power, but there wasn't actually power there, then that would cause the discharge behavior you're seeing. But you thought you saw the voltage rise. So not all is adding up here.

Our suggestion. Reinstall the battery, get power on the unit for an extended period of time (aircraft battery hooked up to a battery charger is a good way to do this), and see if that produces results. If not, get in touch with our tech support directly.

Post 8535:
In the interim, I was able to remove the D100 and cannot now reinstall it because of aircraft work. Nevertheless I would prefer to re-charge the internal battery. May I do this by applying 13Vdc to the #1 and #2 pins of the D-sub 37 connector in order to do so? Thanks.

Yes, but you want to use Pins 1 (power) and 3 (ground), actually.
