It appears that the Dynon Skyview is even better than Dynon knows! I was planning a trip to the Bahamas and called to see if the standard North America Database covers the Bahamas and was told that it does not. They recommended that I purchase the Jeppesen North American Database which does cover the Bahamas, so I did ($65). However, when we departed Ft. Pierce and headed east using the Dynon database (Jeppensen handy in case we needed it), we found that the standard Dynon database covered the Bahamas just fine, showing the islands, airports, runways, etc.

So, we never did install the Jeppensen data which, BTW, can only be installed one (1) time. If you install it over top of the Dynon database, and then re-load the Dynon data, you can not re-install the Jeppesen data unless you buy another copy. Or so they said.......

Nice to know. How far down did you go where the database covered?

The Dynon USA data has some of Canada, up to about 100 miles north of the border. It does not include a corridor between the lower 48 and Alaska.

If you already have a SkyView, and you wonder what your coverage is, just grab the cursor and scroll where you want to go and hit "NRST." It will show you what we know about around that area. You can always just hit "INFO" too and spin in the ID for where you are going to see if we know about it.

Finally, you can actually go back and forth from a Dynon DB to a Jepp DB. If you load the Jepp, then go back to Dynon, it will allow you to re-load the EXACT same Jepp DB. Not a cycle earlier or later, but the same DB. So you can try switching if you want. Sorry if you got bad data on that.
