Hi,

New to Dynon and Avidyne and wondering what is the correct way to set things up to hand fly an approach.

Yesterday I attempted to fly a number of approaches by hand. I programmed the IFD with the approach and activated it. The flight director guided me through course reversals and onto the final no problem, but it did not guide me down the glideslope. I am sure I hit the vnav button while I was still bellow the glideslope but don't recall seeing the alt-->vnav indication.

I was able to complete the approach by flying the hsi and gp "needles", but the fd was not working correctly.

When I flew the approaches coupled, everything worked fine so I'm guessing there's something i did wrong when setting things up to hand fly the approach with FD guidance.

Any pointers would be greatly appreciated.
