Boot Issue

I tried booting the skyview directly from the Backup Battery yesterday (Button 1).  The Dynon splash screen came on very dimly, faded out and then nothing, screen remained black and hung.  I unplugged the backup battery, and attempted to boot via aircraft power... Booted right up, with no issues.  Do you think I have a "Bad" Backup Battery? After reviewing my records this is actually the 4th 10" SV unit I have received.

There could be backup battery issue, or maybe something more, but your issue doesn't sound like the other known issue that the other posts in this thread are about. I've found one other RMA for you that doesn't look to be related, but I'm not finding others. Can you email your RMA number history, if you have it, along with a link to this thread, to support at dynonavionics dot com?

As for other customers that have a failure to boot sometimes where either cycling master power or buttons 1-2-5 fix the issue, we believe we finally have figured out this issue and should have some news on how to resolve this shortly. It only happens on some units, and even at some temperatures, so it has been hard to track down. It's been a high priority but still took a long road to solve.

As we have always said, it only affects turn-on and doesn't indicate any increased chance of a failure once running. We'll get it fixed and get you to the reliability you expect from Dynon.
So...when will we know the fix?

Can I get some feedback on the above? Do I still need to send the unit in or is there a fix I can implement myself???

You'd need to send it in under RMA. There's a small internal hardware change that can't be performed in the field.
