On Skyview Classic running 15.0.3 software, I noticed on the map pages when zooming in and out, I have the north up versus track up set to change at 50nm and that behaves as it should. Above 50 miles range it goes north up, and when you dial back below 50 miles it goes back to track.

Now comes the interesting part - slew the map pointer off the aircraft to look at another place. Zoom out past 50 miles and it goes to north up like it should - but when you zoom back in below 50 miles, it STAYS in north up instead of going back to track up. I have dual screens and confirmed that both screens exhibited this behavior.

This might be by design, but I'm not sure I remember the exact reason why. Will check into it...

So it's by design. As we developed the map, people found it disorienting to have the map switch to track up from north up when the airplane and track line are not visible.

One concrete example: think about panning around to find an airport or other item of interest that's far away. You zoom out, pan to an area, zoom in a little, pan a little more, zoom in, etc etc. If you switch to track up during that process you'd loose the orientation of the map things twist around relative to each other and suddenly your panning motions have changed directions.
