So widgets with graphics have a black color which can be useful. That's most often used for the contact/ball style widget, or gaps in temperature ranges that are neither good or bad. There are a few other colors that are provided as well, fwiw. Alerts only trigger on red, so you can use the other colors interchangeably. I think the closest way to get a dark/clean visual experience is to use only digital values. You'd lose the context that the graphical ranges provide, which most people find value in. You could also have the EMS page off, which doesn't stop the monitoring of anything, and alerts still break through. But we wouldn't generically recommend that either. Though there are minimal instrument requirements for E-AB aircraft (91.205 actually doesn't technically apply to aircraft with experimental airworthiness certifiecates unless your operating limits say so), we think having them shown is a good idea.
