I just loaded SV 10.1 along with the May 1 - 28 AvData and I do not know this is a 10.1 issuer as I have not tried it before.

I understand this is FAA data, but why are some Canadian airports available and some not. I.E CYYB (North Bay ON) is in there, CYYD (Smithers BC) is in there, but CYYC (Calgary) is not. I realize I can get Jeppesen or pocket fms or create user waypoints, but the question is why are there some in the database and not the other?

I do have Seattle Avionics subscription, but the usb drive was not in place.

You need to ask the FAA why they put some in there and not others. All we do is convert it to our format.

I believe one of their criteria is how far it is from the border (100 miles sticks in my mind). There are others. Maybe if it has customs? Maybe only the airports show on USA sectionals?

Yeah it's a bit surprising that a major international airport like Calgary isn't shown. I flew from Saskatoon (CYXE) to Atlanta last year so loaded the latest FAA data. I normally use Pocket FMS but thought I should use the official database. I was a bit surprised that neither Saskatoon (CYXE) or Regina (CYQR) were available on the way back. Luckily the cultural data gave us a point to aim for. Better than ADF. :)

At the beginning of the Cold War, the USA had a plan to annex portions of Canada.  The Grand vision started with the west coast, to join Alaska with the other Conus States.  The secret bill failed in Congress because certain senators started earmarking desirable Canadian cities to the bill and the whole process became a boondoggle.

Eventually, Canada joined NORAD and the USA abandoned this effort but not before the FAA added certain (the warmer) parts of Canada to its database, where it remains.

However, if the USA is still interested, there a few regions we could give a good deal on....
