I am removing the old servo cable and installing the new cables. I found it difficult to remove all the play in the cable to establish a neutral tension.it does not seem to effect the functioning of the autopilot, but the slop just bugs me. I was temped to add a turnbuckle for adjustment, but hate to add the complexity of the system. Any comments?

I had the same problem. I put a cable stop on one end of the bridle cable against the aluminum block. Then pulled tension on the bridle cable while sliding the aluminum block, I had tools in place and tightened the bolts   while pulling the block.
It took as couple of tries to get things centered the way I wanted it. This worked on both servos.
