Just push and hold in the MAP knob for about 2 seconds and it will toggle between Map and the Chart you have selected.

That is your heading bug setting. However, this should only be there for a few seconds after adjusting the heading bug, and then should fade away. Is yours actually staying up for a long time?

Well, it shouldn't do that and we haven't seen or heard of that before, so if it does it the next time you fly, please let us know.
One thing that would be great is a screenshot if you can do that. Buttons 2&7 at the same time with a USB stick inserted.

Yes, the chart will stay up. But you can also just take the screenshot to the charts drive.
I took a screen shot but not sure how to attach. Double dashed line will stay indefinitely unless you select heading and rotate knob, it then will fade away after a few seconds.
Second issue, with approach plate up, press and hold right knob for two seconds it cycles to map. Press it again and it goes to airport diagram not the plate I was viewing.

The map behavior is actually a feature. It does this when you're on the ground and there's an airport diagram available for your location. When you're in-flight, it will toggle between the map and the last used chart.

I recently started to utilize the charts and found switching from maps to charts by pushing the MAP button for two seconds was extremely difficult to do in turbulence. In the MAP mode it would switch to cursor mode with the least little movement of the knob while trying to hold for two seconds and if in CHARTS it would change the size of the chart. In the turbulence it was nearly impossible to switch back and forth with any accuracy. Has anyone else experienced this?

Yep! Those knobs are kinda sensitive in the X-Y axis, and it can be hard to not move it up/down or sideways while trying to press it. Even a little difficult when it's *not* turbulent.
But I expect it'll be something I'll get used to doing over time...

Just so you know, the system ignores left/right/up/down as long as you do the press in the center first. So make sure you get an accurate push inward and then don't worry if it goes a direction accidentally after that. It should only pan if you are pressing a direction as you push in.
That was the problem. In the turbulence at 190 KTS it was impossible to push the button straight in while bouncing around the first time usually. Really had to stabilize my arm to push it straight in. I would like to see the blank button next to the map knob be the toggle switch if possible. Maybe someday!!!!

Just to throw an idea out there, perhaps it would be useful to mount a switchguard near the edge of the skyview panel to stabilize your hand before pushing the button.

Now there's an idea...
I'm not at the hangar, but IIRC, it seemed to me during flight that after bringing up the charts, the button-ology was a little awkward, too...like the "view" button was way the heck over on the right-hand side, etc., with lots of blanks between "active" buttons.
Maybe some rearranging could be done to improve this?

The point of pressing the knob in to allow you to toggle the chart on/off is that it works in any menu. You could be in the Transponder code set menu and it still works. Given that the vast majority of our menus are full, there isn't a way for us to have a button reserved all the time for this.
If you want to close it with buttons, under the MAP menu, there is always a "CLOSE" when the chart is up.
Edward, what "Blank button" next to the knob are you discussing? The rightmost button is always MESSAGE, and the leftmost is BACK/CLOSE. We generally have all of the buttons used!

I was in INFO mode viewing airport information during a turbulent flight a few days ago. As I toggled over to RWY info I hit a 2G pothole and the knob came off and fell on the floor. Yikes! After a bit, I was able to grab the knob and put it on the seat. I wasn't going to try to put it back on in flight. Conveniently, the Dynon knob-less post was easily operated without the knob. The knob went back on easily enough when I was back on the ground. Loving my Dynon!
