Cheap ADSB - IN Solution?

While I am delighted by Dynon products, their ADSB-IN solution is pricey for what it delivers to European and Australian pilots. We don’t get TIS, weather, radar and all the other UAT based stuff Americans can get. All I think we need is 1090 reception.

FLARM and suchlike are also expensive and complicated. Is there a simple cheap receiver that can hook to SV via a serial port?

Someone was telling me the other day that the issue is no-one in Australia wants to pay to transmit the information, therefore no.

I guess economies of scale don't stack up here, but that Europe misses out on these features surprises me.

Or how about let the SkyView system receive the ADS-B data from a STRATUX receiver via the WIFI module. The data is already compatible since FltPlanGo can display the SyView ADS-B data via the WIFI module using the <Custom Unit - Port 4000> selection.

To put it another way, I can get a $35 ADSB usb stick for my ipad, yet the skyview equivalent is $700+

I really hope Dynon comes to the party and allows ADSB in using the standard GDL 90 format. My Stratus ESG+3i ADSB in-out transponder will produce a GDL 90 data stream.

Advanced accepts this already (see http://advanced-flight-systems.com/forum/threads/1411-ADS-B-for-4500 ). I hope Dynon does soon.
