Checklist Characters

In setting up checklists in my D100 and D180, many of the characters that represent abbreviations (i.e., apostrophe to indicate minutes or the check sign for "check" etc.) are lost when entered in the Dynon Support Program. I believe that expanding to the expanded ASCII character list would be easy from a programming perspective. Is this possible or is there a way to enter these characters that I am not aware of? Thanks

I think it is possible to export/import settings. If the direct interface is "editing out characters," you might try importing from a file.

Or, there might be an "Escape Character" you need to put in in order to get the program to allow them through. Some programming languages use the forward slash (/) before a character to accept that character verbatim, Dynon may use a different character.

The support program does not show an option to import settings and that may work but I am not versed on modifying settings or dealing with interfaces. I wish I were but believe if it can be done easily by a knowledgeable person on the topic, it should be easier for the Dynon folks to incorporate a few more characters. All I know is that I cut & paste my lists, or work on them in the actual support program, and the program takes the characters but does not save them. It deletes them when you exit the checklist and leaves a blank space instead.

Well it's Sunday night they'll probably get back to you tomorrow.

In the support program on the right hand side there are 5 vertical buttons:
- Load from disk
- Save to disk
- Get from instrument
- Send to Instrument
- Cancel

With the EFIS connected and powered up, select "Get from instrument."  When it is finished, select "Save to disk."  Just save it to your desktop.  Open it with Notepad (or any plain-text editor), make the changes you want, save it, and then "Load from disk" and "Send to instrument."

Cheers,

Bill

Tried it but did not work. Not a big deal but I believe a simple fix that would help to shorten and/or clarify some of the items one includes in the lists. Thanks anyway.

Our font set on the D10/D100 series of products is limited (hand-built in fact) and not likely to change. You'll need to replace any exotic extended ASCII characters with normal keyboard characters.

I was referring to common keyboard and not exotic characters but I understand. Thanks for the reply.
