Can checklists be set up and displayed with Skyview?
Maybe they'll come up with some sort of battery backup so the EFIS keeps running with the master off. :-?Checklists on an EFIS are ok for normal operations, but in emergencies such as an electrical fire, the EFIS is likely to be turned off.
It's probably a good idea to wait for the EFIS to boot so that the oil pressure can be checked on start. I turn on the master before I load the passengers so they have something to look at once settled. How about the pre-start checklist, when the EFIS is still booting up?
I'm thinking emergency checklist should be context sensitive. Alternator quits, up pops a checklist with a list of stuff to shut down to conserve electricity. No digging around looking for a paper checklist that may or may not be on fire. ;DEmergency checklists should always be in paper form.

... The SOP for ANY electrical fire is turn off all non-essential electrics, including the SkyView. After all, it may be it's battery that's burning.

Read more carefully. I said pre-start checklist.

It's not my idea, it's the law.
Nice try though Vern.
I agree that context-sensitive non-normal checklists MIGHT be useful, but it strikes me as a very difficult thing to integrate accurately. I fly big jets with both paper and electronic checklists. My opinion? - for a GA aeroplane, it's an unnecessary complication.
DittttoBe careful what you ask for.

Emergency checklists should always be in paper form. Since you have the paper, you can put the normal checklists on it as well. Problem solved.
