SkyView does not currently have a checklists feature, though it's one that we're getting more requests for. It's on our list of features to look into doing.

I've posted a couple times here on this topic. I'm not a programmer, but checklists seem fairly easy to add, especially since my D180 had this functionality 5+ years ago. I was, and still astonished, this functionally is not in the SkyView.

This is a feature I would really like!

I was wavering a bit on the checklists. I bought Checkmate for my Android cell phone and spend a lot of time updating it but find that I pick up the checklist card rather than pull out my cell phone. Force of habit maybe. I should chuck the paper copy which would change that habit.

What I did find is that my Checkmate checklist is a much better document then the paper copy. When I find something that can be done better or needs to be done before I'm in the air, it's way easier to change the electronic checklist than the laminated paper copy.

I think that if a checklist came up when I turned on Skyview, I would probably forget the paper card.

I'm for checklists on Skyview.

Be careful what you ask for.

Checklists on an EFIS are ok for normal operations, but in emergencies such as an electrical fire, the EFIS is likely to be turned off.

How about the pre-start checklist, when the EFIS is still booting up?

Emergency checklists should always be in paper form. Since you have the paper, you can put the normal checklists on it as well. Problem solved.

If checklists are to be done, make them audible.

Maybe they'll come up with some sort of battery backup so the EFIS keeps running with the master off.  :-?

It's probably a good idea to wait for the EFIS to boot so that the oil pressure can be checked on start. I turn on the master before I load the passengers so they have something to look at once settled.

Emergency checklists should always be in paper form.
I'm thinking emergency checklist should be context sensitive. Alternator quits, up pops a checklist with a list of stuff to shut down to conserve electricity. No digging around looking for a paper checklist that may or may not be on fire. ;D

Nice try though Vern.

... The SOP for ANY electrical fire is turn off all non-essential electrics, including the SkyView. After all, it may be it's battery that's burning.

Read more carefully. I said pre-start checklist.

It's not my idea, it's the law.

Thinking through the problem usually gives you the answer. Emergency checklists should be in paper form. Not only a good idea, it's the law.

I agree that context-sensitive non-normal checklists MIGHT be useful, but it strikes me as a very difficult thing to integrate accurately. I fly big jets with both paper and electronic checklists. My opinion? - for a GA aeroplane, it's an unnecessary complication.

The checklist functionality has been in the D180 for years before the SkyView was even in production. That is why for me it feels like lack of this feature is a miss by Dynon. I used it for years in my RV-4 and really liked it. Of course it is good practice to keep a paper list as a back up... Just like with any other instrument or system deemed critical to flight.

Put me down as a strong NO voter on the ECL.

I've been flying them for the last 7 years at work in the Boeing, and they are an excellent tool for SA but unless the ECL is integrated with the aircraft systems in a loop to verify a system is on/off/inop, it's just another distraction pushing buttons when you should be flying the airplane.

I'd rather see Dynon put their energy to other things.

Display a list of numbered items?? MEH.. Maybe use it once to try it.

Automatically recognize flight regimes and prompt audio reminders for a few items like landing gear? Now that's going to make a difference. :)
