CHT jittery

I have one CHT that, only once in a while, gets "jittery", jumping around by a degree or two as it generally climbs, then drops, then climbs...on start-up and taxi; a little better on run-up, and stable trend but still jumpy (a degree or two or three in each direction around the probably actual value) in flight.

Then, other times, steady as a rock and showing normal trends with increase in overall temps and power, on climb, cooling on level-out, etc.

Any thoughts here? Just the one CHT, and cycling all other powered devices showed no change, so not likely interference. Dodgy crimp on the sensor, perhaps?

Ideas welcome for things to try so I have a nice list to check when I go to the hangar and decowl to start diagnosis.

TIA

Yeah Steve, you could check the crimp but also make sure the probe end is clean where it contacts the cylinder. ;)

I have had the exact symptoms. When everything heats up the connection expands and is solid.
The issue is you need to tighten the connector. I ended up needing to recrimp the connectors with new ends. Has been solid ever since.
