Compatability with VM1000 capacitive fuel probes

I bought an abandoned Glasair project which has capacitive fuel probes in both the wing and fuselage tanks. They are for the VM1000 system but I do not know if they output voltage. Do you know if these will work with your FD 180?

They're frequency output, which unfortunately won't work with our systems, which need 0-5V analog voltage output, or resistive output, or raw capacitance (when used with our cap-to-volt converters, which are optimized for use with the Vans capacitance plates)

Sounds like there is no conversion if I read your reply correctly.

Yes, that's unfortunately correct.

Re: Compatability with VM1000 capacitive fuel prob

There is good news with regards to the VM1000 fuel probes converters! I got a link to Princeton Electronics and talked with the owner (Todd Stehouwer) today. They make a converter specifically for the VM1000 probes which converts the output to the 0-5v which the Dynon needs. It is part number CP 10 A. He said they cost $150. Since a great number of the Glasairs have this probe, we will now be able to use the Dynon system to produce accurate fuel gauge depiction instead of having to rely on just fuel flow and totalizer. This information is current as of today.
