Connect Lightspeed Ignition LED light output to SkyView?

I have dual Lightspeed Plasma III ignitions. Each Lightspeed box can put out 5v on a pin of the output connector when the unit is powered on. These normally are connected to LED lights mounted on the panel.

I don’t want to mount LEDs on the panel and would like to use the Dynon HDX1100 to indicate the presence of 5v output from the Lightspeeds.

Can I wire each Lightspeed box’s 5v output to general purpose pins on the EMS and then map the sensors to these pins and create a widget for them?

Yes, is the simple answer. You do exactly as you've written and just set it up as 0-2V light off, 2-5V light on (or the other way round if you wish). Create a 'lamp', with a label and plonk it in the engine strip.

It's all pretty easy and I have one for my starter power, one for low fuel and one for my EarthX battery warning. I don't have any physical lamps on my panel :)

Probably not an issue for you when using 5 volts, but remember that multiple voltage inputs to the general purpose contacts are cumulative, and may necessitate a pull down resistor for higher voltages.

Got it working. I put a 1k pulldown on each one as the GP pins were set to 200ohm pullup and I wanted to be sure to sink to ground (0v) fully when the lightspeed boxes are off.

are the boxes pulling the 5v and putting it to ground to turn the lights on or are they putting 5v to the lights with the lights wired to ground from there? my EI boxes ground the light circuit so the LED's are powered from a CB. I didn't know monitor lights could be displayed on the Skyview display, that's pretty cool. 🤔

You can change the pull up to off depending on sensor settings I believe.

Having a pulldown never hurts though!

The output on the box is +5v when the unit is powered on.
