Connecting Apollo GX50 to Dynon - will it work?

I have an Apollo GX 50 already panel mounted in RV, the latest installation manual says it probably won't work for HSI presentation, but goes on to say it may work if a data string is entered manually or it may work with the latest version of the firm-ware.

Are there any installations of this in the field that are successful?

I am also thinking that If it works, I will connect it up using a male db9 and connect onto pin 3 rather than make the hard wire connection as in the manual.

When it is in the normal "operation" mode , it is connected with the two db-9's. When firmware up grade is required, the GPS's male DB-9 must be disconnected , which allows the laptop to be connected to the female DB-9.

One more question about GX50's? There are two rs 232 connections on its terminal strip. Are the data identical at each of these outputs. My reason is, I have used one already for the xpndr and it is tight back there. The other RS232 has no connections to it, leaving it available to connect a wire to the DB-9 pin 3.

Thanks for any help and suggestions.

Re: Connecting Apollo GX50 to Dynon - will it work

The GX-50 is a GPS that is known to not work with our latest version of firmware. We hope that our next release will fix this, and further, are looking for beta testers with different GPSes to test compatibility.

See the following post for information on how to get into our beta testing program:
