:'( Without thought for the consequences, I hooked up the EFIS without any peripheral unitto a 12V Source.
After short rise process the Efis shows X's on the screen
even with cable connected to the ADAHRS.
Is this normal, or causing damage?

It shouldn't be a problem but make sure you have a fuse or breaker in the line as a precaution..

If the GPS amtenna is not connected, you will mostly likely have X on the screen..

It did for me..

Best of luck

Don't worry Yair ;) (but use a breaker),
It should be normal that you have X on the screens at first start up. Even if the cables are connected, you should ask the screen to "find" the other modules (ADAHRS, EMS, GPS antenna). For that you should enter the into the setup menu (pressing the most two buttons on the right (not the knob) and hold them until you enter the menu) then go to "System Setup" then "Network setup" then press "detect" and you are done.

If the modules are highlighted, it could be because the versions are different between the screen and the module(s). If you have this problem, you should update your system following the Dynon installation user guide which is very useful.

Hope this will help you

Have a good day

If you just connected the EFIS without anything (ADAHRS/EMS/GPS) connected it will just show red "X"s on all the pages. There is a cable with the system to connect the EMS or ADAHRS and if you have the SV-GPS-250 it can be connected to the Skyview harness so you will be able to see some of the pages.
