Cooling?

Anecdotal evidence from other users say that the Dynon can get hot.  I have a D180, and although the tray is rather open, allowing air to circulate freely, I do have a port available from my avionics cooling fan.

My question would be:  What is the hottest part of the Dynon D180?  Where would be the best place to direct cooling air?  I thought perhaps a port on the bottom of the tray towards the face of the instrument might be a good choice.  If not there, just blowing it across the top would carry heat away.

This time of year we know how hot it can get in Florida!!!

You actually don't want to try to cool just one part of the the D180. Ideally, the whole unit should be at the same temperature. So try to get airflow past it, but try not to target a particular part on the case.

Good tip. I'll look at directing cooling air across the top just as general circulation.

Thanks
