Can I select a freely chosen position on the map in the Dynon HDX that is not a predefined VOR, waypoint, or airport? Simply select a position on the map with my finger, determine it, and incorporate it into the flight plan.
Happy landing for the new year

I copied this text out of the "Skyview HDX Pilot's User Guide" ...

MAP Panning with the MAP Pointer (page 5-46)

...
When in MAP Panning Mode, pressing "-D->" will cause a temporary MAP POINTER waypoint to be created that allows you to navigate Direct-To the location that you are pointing at with the MAP pointer. (Note that this waypoint is not stored as a user waypoint. See the section on User Waypoints for more information about using the user waypoints feature).

When in MAP Panning Mode, the MENU > USER WAYPOINTS > ADD MAP CURSOR POSITION menu item will allow you to create a user waypoint and immediately add it to your Flight Plan.

Thank you. In the past, I haven't managed to do it this way. I will now try again following these instructions. As far as I can remember, the problem is that when I do a "direct," the flight plan is deleted.

Hi Olaf,

Actually, it doesn’t work with the Goto button. While you can enter a “Goto” command for the selected position on the map, this method doesn’t allow you to add the point to the flight plan. (It will indeed delete your flight plan)

However, it works perfectly with the method described in the second part. If you select the point on the map in „Panning Mode“, choose „Menu“, then the „User Waypoints„ option, and there you can actually add the selected point to the flight plan. I admit it’s a bit cumbersome, but it works.

Best regards, Jean-Paul

I often plan out my route on SkyVector with GPS waypoints then save to my jump drive and upload the flight plan to the Dynon SkyView.

I eagerly await Dynon's implementation of modifying the flight plan by dragging the route on the screen to the desired position (rubber banding).

Dynon very rarely announces new features they 'plan' to put in any future updates.

Absolutely! Do you know if something like "rubber banding" is being planned?
I discussed this with Dynon at KOSH last year and was told that "it was on the list". They wouldn't say if it was at the top or the bottom of the list but they did say the request has merit and that it was a feature that was frequently requested.
